Sat Feb 03, 2007 10:11 pm   What's everyone doing for their Sweetie for Valentine's Day?

Hello everyone,

I'm wondering what you're doing for your sweetie for Valentines Day?

I haven't made definite plans yet, but I know my husband loves it when I make homemade coupons. So, I probably do that and maybe make him a cheesecake.

Our church is also having a special weekend couples retreat. It was rescheduled for March because our pastor wasn't able to reserve as many rooms as we needed any sooner. So, I'm looking forward to that.

So, anyone else have ideas to share to make your sweetie feel special?

My husband has this particular name that he calls himself that I'm not going to say here because it's so crazy. He saw it in a valentine's day personal ad in the newspaper years ago and thought it was so funny that ever since he refers to himself as my _____ (fill in the blank - you would never guess it and it's just too crazy to say - nothing bad, just crazy).

Anyway, I found a perfect piece of clipart to go with that name and ordered a mug with the art on one side and a message, "I love my _____" (fill in the same blank) on the other side. I know he's going to absolutely love it.

I'll probably fix his favorite meal, spaghetti with white clam sauce (it's in my recipe blog if you're interested) and a wonderful coconut cake recipe that I'm anxious to try. Who needs to go out when you can do something really special at home (especially since it's just the two of us). I'm really looking forward to it!

Susan,

Thanks for sharing. That sounds really thoughtful and well-planned. Where do you order mugs like this?

I put the picture on photobucket.com and ordered the mug through them. You can do it on cafepress.com, too, and actually probably on any site that stores photos (kodak, wal-mart, yahoo photos, etc.).

I'm just glad I thought of it BEFORE Valentine's day! Usually I suffer from memory delay or put-it-off syndrome. I'll let you know how it works out.

You can get gifts that like from Photomax too. I love Photomax! The site is http://www.photomax.com/web/index.php . You can get a free photosharing account and more than a dozen free prints. What I like is that you can share photos with people without them having to register on the site to see them. If you decide to get a free account it will ask who referred you. You can use sales@thedesignsdivision.com .

The mug idea is GREAT!!

Our church is having a Valentine's dinner at a restaurant. I don't have a sweetie/Valentine. So I asked one of the other single girls in the church if she'd be my date since neither of us have a boyfriend at the moment. :D Actually, all of us singles will probably take up a corner of the restaurant. Hopefully next year I'll have a REAL date!

Some day my prince will come...

Christina,

Good for you. I did the same thing in college. I made a date with my college friends. Toward the last two years of college, I really focused hard on my work and wasn't really interested in dating. This worked great for me to still get out and be with others instead of alone.

I believe your prince charming is just around the corner....

Hmmm....I guess Valentine's Day is next Wednesday, right? I guess I'll need to start thinking about that :D

We usually stay in, make a nice dinner and enjoy some "us time." Being that I'll be 38 weeks pregnant this year, we'll probably still make a nice dinner, and then I'll go to bed!

We usualy dont really do much different.

The main thing we do every valentines is recall are early years.
Then reflect on how our love has changed.
It is amazing how love grows richer in depth, how you can know a person more deeply and become so melded.
I still recall certain moments of our early encounters, and feel a familiar rush. He is not the same person that I first met, indeed we both have changed, however we have shared the process of growing/aging and grown closer together in the process.
It has always been our practice to do throughout the year so as not to HAVE to make up for it on a special day.
Now specials days are more days of recollection.
After all I have spent over half my life with this wonderful being that I love so much.

I see that last post was a little wordy. lol

Just touched on a subject of my heart.

Enjoy celebrating. and for those who have yet to met that perfect someone, trust me he/she is worth the wait.

Be prepared, you never know the when, where, or who.
I met mine while swinging a chainsaw deep in the forests of BC.

Okay, so I need to go get a chainsaw...

Thank you for posting, Breezy. I love to hear about a love growing deeper through time. That's how my parents are and that's how my marriage will be. Too often we hear just the opposite about divorcing, fighting, bitterness, unfaithfulness and disrespect in marriages. It just warms my heart when I know that there are other happy couples. Sure, there are difficult times, but I know that all things, all situations can be handled in a respectful manner.

May everyone have a wonderful and love filled celebration next Wednesday!! :D

Usually we just exchange cards, I get candy and we go out to dinner. Which is fine with me. We just keep it simple. We are hosting a couples dinner at our home this weekend. Just me, hubby and two other couples. Maybe I'll surprise him with something this year- just don't know what yet!

Well, I'm recovering from surgery that I had last week and my hubby was so good to me during all of this (he is even when I'm not sick). I want to make it special for him. I know we'll go out to eat, but I haven't thought of anything creative yet?

Debbie,

Sorry to hear that you had to have surgery, but I'm so glad that you are recovering and that your hubby is taking good care of you. Please rest and get well. I had major surgery last July, so can remember really well what that's like.

I am kinda ticked at my Dh right now, so I cannot think of anything he is going to get! :x

Maybe by Wed, I may have cooled off to get him something.... We don't over do on any holidays, so maybe a card and a small gift.
