Drawing was something my husband got me to do to help me through the grieving process when my dad died. I have not spent much time doing it and would love to learn more about it.

You are more than welcome to learn from my blogs! Learn what to do and, especially, what NOT to do! I may be seasoned, but I have SO much to learn, so I'm sure I'll be learning from yours, too. I do enjoy blogging, though, and have myself spread pretty thin!

My friend Karen draws and now that her kids are in college she actually took lessons and is even developing a business out of it. I think she does an excellent job. I'm sure she won't mind if I share her new website. It's www.karenkbrannon.com . Her concept is so neat, drawing pictures of people and families with themes that other people will enjoy. I know most of the people in her pictures, which is so cool!

I agree, it's beautiful work. I'll give you part of the secret of the colored pencil. It has layers and layers and layers of color on it. That's what she told me. I can barely draw a stick figure, so I'll take her word for it, but you should try layering color to see what you get.

In fact, if you want to ask her anything, PM me and I'll give you her e-mail. She won't mind a bit hearing from you. (Oh, I guess there's probably a link on her site. Honestly, feel free to contact her. She'd be thrilled!)

I'm so thrilled!!!!! You've got a great blog. And your article was wonderful. Blogging can be a great hobby to have online....and a start of alot of other things....but I'll stop there before I start handing out a hundred other ideas and start overwhelming you. Hee! :lol:

Yes indeed I may be in touch with her.
I choose to use graphite rather than color, although I have done some colored pencil and one in pastel.
I think the layering may be part of the technique of burnishing, tho, I am not sure.

Oh yes,
I plan to post on the art of graphite pencil.
