Here's an excellent tip that was reinforced at First Steps to Success by DaniJohnson.com:

Cut the fat from your budget!

If you are trying to get out of debt, buy a new home, get a new car, save for your child's college education or anything that requires a substantial amount of money, you need to scrutinize your budget.

Where is your money going every month? Where can you eliminate expenses (trips to Starbuck's, video rental membership, club memberships [the expensive kind], eating out, excessive shopping, etc.)?

Look at where every single penny you are spending is going during the month. Everyone has places they can cut back. Cut the fat out of your spending. If you have a lot of stuff or even a garage or storage unit full of stuff you aren't using, sell it and pay off some debt with it or put it in savings.

I heard some incredible testimonials where people cut the fat from their budget and it ranged from $10/month to nearly two thousand dollars a month. These people were paying off huge amounts of debt just within a few months. Collectively about 46 people paid off over 2 million dollars worth of debt within a couple of years from the training they got at First Steps to Success. Isn't that awesome??

So my invitation to you is to join me in the fight against fat!

Great post! For us, we cut way back on eating out, shopping, and on extra features in our cable and internet package.

Christina,

It's so true that all the "little" monthly costs really add up. Many do not even realize it because they never actually sit down and add it all up.

I'm so glad to say that in Feb. we paid off all our debts and now we're debt free. No day at the spa or gym membership could feel as good as being debt free. I'm glad to cut out all the extras to enjoy life without the added debt stress!!!!
