I have really never understood the point or purpose of blogging, yet I hear how it is supposed to somehow help with sales and/or increase traffic to your website.

Can anyone explain this to me? Thank you. :D

That is a great topic. And the answer is a definite "yes" "if" done correctly. Blogging takes a lot of commitment. What creates the traffic to blogs? Frequent blogging (posting) makes the search engines happy...fresh content they love, search engines seem to take note of how often sites are updated...and the robots visit more frequently. However, people quickly take notice whether a blog is used for pure "advertising" (which they will not revisit to read more) or whether you are truly offering valuble content and information that is worthy of their time. If you have great content, they will often subsribe to your rss feed. Also many webmasters and other bloggers will even link to your blog if you have content that will be considered a "valuable source" for their visitors.
It will help to submit your blog to many blog directories. I have a good starter list to submit to on Wahm-Announce.com.

Include your links to your websites on your blog, and post some specials or sales as well. But, keep your blog at least 80% valuable content.

Now, we're not all "blogger" types. I started a blog for mommyrevenue.com and haven't kept up with that at all. I have heard some webmasters state, "that it is just not for them". I believe I am one of those. I am more committed to my "Ezine" for Wahm-Announce.com. I enjoy working and creating that much more than blogging. However, in the future, I might give it another shot. :wink:

It does not hurt to give blogging a try...to see if it is "your thing or not" There are many free resources.

Blogging is awesome. You can use a blog to create all sorts of content to your site. You can even create niche websites using a blog. I have 10 blogs currently and plan to have one on each one of my website.

Thank you for the tips. I have a blog, but it's mostly about my business and not so much content. I'll definitely have to work on that. I definitely want people to come back!
