| Mon Apr 09, 2007 9:33 pm Blogging Anyone?? - Reading, Commenting, Advertising |
|
|
Just wondering how many of you ladies are really into blogging.
Do you have favorite blogs that you visit often or subscribe to? If so what type of blogs do you visit?
How many of you take time to post your "comments" on other blogs? Blogging can be a form of drawing traffic to your own site; however, it should be done in a manner where you are still posting genuine thoughts & opinions. So, do you like to comment? What sort of topics urges you to comment?
How about blog advertising? Has anyone used "payperpost" blog advertising or "Blogads" for advertising? Blogs are usually updated more frequently than websites so if you're choosing the right kind of blogs that will reach your targeted market, this would be beneficial to draw in some new leads for your home business. Does anyone here have experiences to share? |

I try to keep up with mine at http://naturallytara.blogspot.com/
I have 2 others but they dont have meaty juicy posts like this one.
I usually visit vegan, earth friendly, activist type of blogs.
I leave comments when led to
and no, don't do any payperposts or anything like that

| I see you have a really good blog. You've been blogging for quite some time, then. I see you started Dec. 2005. Do you seem to be getting a fair amount of traffic to your blog? |

I used to get more traffic because I used to blog more often there and then from may until recently I was too busy so it's just going again but I do pick up customers, clients and sales from it as well plus a few paid article writing gigs too :)

| I have one blog www.smallbusinessmoms.com/blog.html and have been trying to find that balance of how many posts for a week is enough without being too many. I visit other wahm-related blogs and also Christian women blogs. I do comment when feel led to do so and make it part of my networking each week. |

| I started a blog at the end of March of this year -- http://healthyperspectives.blogspot.com and I blog whenever I find which topic I want to talk about. I visit two other blogs that belong to my friends. One is a let your hair down kind of blog and the other is a work at home blog. I will comment if it strikes my interest. |

I think that seems to be the toughest part of blogging -- how many times per week is sufficient?? I've always heard that the more often you blog, the better. On the other side of the coin, I've heard that you can go overboard as well.
Overall, consistency may benefit the most, setting a standard of 2 or 3 times per week. I've wanted to start some other blogs, but I hesitate to do so until I know I can dedicate the time to be active with it on an ongoing basis.
The reason why I was asking about "commenting" is that many times bloggers really put their heart into their blog posts, but then there is no feedback or comments in return. Whenever I feel the urge to do so, I do comment as well, but usually only when I'm in "agreement". However, I've seen comments from those who post their "own contradictory view" as well. So, it could make for a great discussion if you choose a subject that can be controversial at times. |

Suzanne,
Are you planning to use wordpress? I really like using their software for blogging. It's really easy to change the templates as well. |

I had Heather Bixler of girlyblogdesignz.com do a wordpress custom template design for me for a podcast I am launching August 1st and she did a great job. I needed specific colors etc for branding purposes and she achieved all of that and more. I highly recommend hiring her.
You can see her work here: http://www.biblical-coaching-podcast.com |

Last night I got my blog switched over to my new domain. Now, I am out changing all of my sig lines! AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!
Caitlinn just bought her domain so we will be setting that up when she gets a few things finished. I am also running her a blog instead of a site. They seem to move up faster than a plain site. Then I will get to go change my sig lines again!!

Sheryl,
I agree, blogs are easier to manage and maintain than websites, not to mention most blogging software come already equipped with the rss feature allowing you to quickly distribute your updated information. |

My blog also has massive stats so I can track what domain my hits are coming from.
It also gives me key word searches. So if some one is on Google & searches "WAHM Forum" & finds one of my post to visit I know what words are being hit from Google (yahoo, MSN....)searches.
I also only comment if I can say something nice. Most of the time I just read them.
