How much does money matter to you? How many of you would really like to be "rich"? If you were rich, to what extreme do you think it would change your lifestyle?

On the topic of money, it's been reported that Bill Gates no longer holds the title for the "World's Richest" person. It's interesting that he doesn't really care. It's even more interesting that Carlos Slim, who now holds the new title as "World's Richest" person, doesn't seem entertained by the thought either.

You can view my post on this subject at:

So, what about you? How much does money matter?

I don't care to be rich - I just want the needs of my family taken care of and have some left over to donate to worthy causes. Wealth carries a whole set of burdens, responsibilities and pitfalls that I don't care to partake in.

It is important for me to run a profitable business, don't get me wrong - but being "rich" isn't the reason. I want to be debt free and able to give a large portion of what I earn to God's Kingdom all while living a fulfilling and enjoyable life with my husband and children.

I am rich :)
I have two children, one of which is straight A student, animal lover, diva extreme, well behaved and knows God.
The other is working young man ( he's 18 yrs old ) and is getting his life together while still living here at home.
I have my health, I have God, I have my own businesses and I have no stress in my life, I have fun, I enjoy life

so to me, that is being rich.

now monetary wise, it'd be nice to be debt free and then I could do more of my volunteer work and take the kids more places so they can experience life outside of S. Fl but that'll come... in due time.

I'm still taking a 4 day vacation week after next to NC and while I'd love to own a house I do NOT want to own here in S. FL so when it's my time, HIS time, I'll have the house that is ideal, til then I still view myself as being rich....

I have time w/my kids..which is more than I can say for most people I know (they're too busy working or too busy with their 'toys' ya know boats, jet skis, partying to even have a relationship with their kids)

I don't stress while I see others spending $1500+ on CAR payments! Because both hubby and wife MUST have brand new top of line cars!???

I just bought my new Scion XB in Sept. and that was the first BRAND NEW car I've had since 1989 but what I've done in between there is raise 2 kids (well DD is only 11 but you know what I mean) and have had FUN! and made lasting memories for the kids, not neglected them to pay for 'stuff' because I wanted to be rich...

sure hope all that made sense??
to me, life isn't about money... HE supplies all my needs and one day I'll be able to do even more for His kingdom

Tara

Rhonda, I've got to give a hearty Amen to Marlo's reply and say she has the exact same opinion that I do.

For me, money is just a means to an end. I've got my sights set on a heavenly destination that makes the riches here pale in comparison. Take care and God bless.

I love all the replies here. Call me nuts, but I've never cared for expensive cars, huge houses (I always wonder how much time it really takes to clean them. ), and flashy jewelry. I love simplicity, and yes, I feel blessed and rich. God's given me so much, and my family's good health is more than I even deserve.

I agree - I don't want that kind of stress of keeping up on the maintenance of those crazy houses and cars etc - the tune-ups, the reno's, the utility bills, hiring a house cleaner because you are so busy working to try and keep up with your lifestyle that you have no TIME to clean your house...

I am quite happy with my house - I like to decorate it and put my signature on it - and that is enough for me. My husband is always looking for the upgrade with things and I am that voice of reason who reminds him why it isn't as great as it all appears on the outside :)
