Now onto my question....How has blogging helped your business?

Have you gotten new customers/clients by blogging? Have you gotten any new business partners by blogging?

How do you use your blog in regards to business?

What makes a good business blog?

Do you use your blog to just post specials or do you actually use it to post helpful information and tips that you think a reader could use/would enjoy?

If you do both....how do you balance the too without coming off as a sales pitch?

Any do's or dont's you want to tell us about in regards to blogging?

Even with my blog which is just random ramblings of biz and personal opinions I still get new consultants and orders from it.

I have consultants of Affordable Mineral Makeup who have blogs strictly for AMM and they get lots of orders from those.

I just don't have the time to be consistent w/my blogs like the consultants do but even so I get biz from mine as well.

I just ramble on my blog so nothing comes off as a sales pitch really and if it does then it's only an occasional post at that, mostly just me rambling there! LOL

I love blogs...the ease of use and the rss that allows you to get your content out there quickly.

I use affiliate marketing and also like using adsense to monetize them. Google checks are certainly nice to get. :wink:

*I find that blogs are easy to bring in traffic from the search engines since you can use keywords to optimize your content and publish so much faster than you can using a website creater. I used to use microsoft frontpage quite a bit, but now I rarely use it because wordpress is so much easier.

And last, but not least, I think blogs are also great for bringing in new leads for practically any type of business. Your visitors can easily get to know you and your personality easier. They sense that there's a real human being involved, where as, large business websites are often intimidating and you rarely feel you're dealing with real, down-to-earth people.

To me what makes a good business blog is a blog that offers good information, in a relaxed style that makes reading easy and fun. A sense of humor, down-to-earth stye allows your visitors to get to know you while getting some good information and content for their time.

I don't claim to have acheived this myself. Most of my current blogs are for posting articles, tips and special offers online, but I do know that the blogs I prefer to visit over and over again will be ones that offer me the best content and make reading interesting. :wink:

I can tell you from email marketing that the key to getting attention without a real sales pitch is always be more concerned about helping your subscribers or visitors than you are about earning another dollar. So, offer the best content you can...and then offer your recommendations. Always be open and honest. Don't try to hide information (you know companies that try to make you read the fine print or hope you won't try and you find out later that you didn't have all the facts, or the deal wasn't as good as you thought.)

So that would also be my do's and don'ts

Do be totally honest
Do offer your best content and real information
Do take time to respond to comments on your blog
Don't try to pretend to be perfect. Let them see the real you.
Don't throw too many sales pitches...they won't be back for more!
