How important do you feel it is to have a good signature tag on your network posts, group posts, message boards and on your emails?

Do you yourself read signature tags in the emails you get and the posts you read?

Do you think folks should have graphics and a banner in their signature tag or does that turn you off?

What are your tips in regards to doing up an effective signature tag?

Like the Short & Sweet? (or) detailed with info?

Shelly,

Great topic! I do, in fact, read everyone's signature tags because I have lots of interests about online businesses and you can get to know a little bit more about the person's interest and personality by visiting their sites.

However, I am involved in a forum online that is NOT a business type forum. I'm involved there purely out of interest of connecting with other Christian women. I do not receive many visits at all to my site from my sig. So, I'm assuming that not everyone really pays much attention to the signatures as I do. Since I'm involved in online business, I probably pay more attention to the sig lines there than the average person does.

I do have my logo in my signatue line at quite a few forums. Some forums I use only text. I have read that including a catchy headline really helps to get more clicks, but I rarely use this method. My greater goal is just connecting and being helpful. If they have enough interest in me, they'll visit my site to see what I'm up to.

I rarely click on banners in signature lines, I usually click on text ads. I think there really is banner blindness going on...we do tend to look at them as just another ad. Many internet marketers sware by text ads being much more effective. On the other hand, if it's a simple link to a familiar direct sales company. I rarely click. So, I look for catchy domain names or links that really seem to be their own unique sites.

Short and sweet to me seems more suitable. I have so much to read at forums as it is...I don't care to read a bunch of text in the signature lines.

I'm much interested in what the other wahms here think. Please share your thoughts.

Hey Shelly,

That is a very good question! Like Rhonda, I'm a member to several other forums. So it depends on what forum I'm on as to whether or not I look at the signature tags.

On the ones involving general work from home businesses, I do tend to look at them since I'm always looking for more ways to make income and any ideas or offers that anyone has are always helpful! :-)

I'm also a member of one that is for a specific business. On that one, I do not tend to look since it's only relating to that business, even though you are aloud to put other opportunities on there. I guess when I'm on that one, I'm only there for that specific business so I don't even think about looking at them.

And I must agree with Rhonda about the banner vs. text signatures. When I see a banner, I do look at it as an ad more than an opportunity. So I tend to skip over them I like the text ones better. :D

Best Wishes,

Audrey

Shelly,

I prefer short and sweet. I sometimes get emails. The email is under 10 words. The signature is 7 or 8 lines.

Same for forums. I've seen many forum owners make rules that signatures can be no more than 3 lines.

I hate seeing posts with one or two words and then a 6 or 7 line signature :(
