Well, I was raised to be a "thrifty" person.
1. Recycle Stuff.
Before you throw out some item that you think you no longer need, take a day or two to see if you can come up with another use for it. Are there any parts that you can take off and use? Create an odd parts container. How about fabrics? Old sheets can be used for cutting down to size for curtains, pillow cases, or just keeping for a dust cover over a large item in the attic or storeage room. Old clothes that aren't even good enough to donate can be salvaged by taking off the buttons for crafts, and sometimes part of the fabric can be used for crafts or other sewing projects.
2. Shop at a Fast Pace
Of course coupons have always been my favorite for grocery shopping -- and the more that you can stick with your list and get out the store "pronto" can save money. It's a proven fact that the longer you stay in a store the more you will spend. |

Great tips, Rhonda. I'd like to add to the shoppig one. If you're going grocery shopping, be sure to eat a good satisfying meal before you go. It's dangerous to your pocket book to go food shopping when you're hungry!
I definitely recommend lists and research. If you're shopping for a pricey item, research your options online. Call stores or go to them and talk to the representatives. Research can give you the info you need to make an informed decision. Perhaps you don't need the more expensive item with all the bells and whistles. Just maybe the one that cost $100 less will work just fine for your needs. Then again, maybe you do need the more expensive one. That's when you research stores online and offline to find the best price. It's amazing what you can find when you do a little looking.
Research works great for just about anything: games, toys, electronic equipment, appliances, books, travel, crafts, etc. |

Christina,
I do apologize. :? I meant to include this post in our weekly announce to get some more feedback here...but it slipped my mind as I was tight on time. I do think we could get some good ideas for saving money going here... |

That's okay, Rhonda. I know how that is! When we're short on time we always forget something it seems. :)
Which brings up a good point...
Don't shop for anything when you are in a hurry because you'll settle for something you don't need and probably spend too much.
Always compare products and make sure you have the time to do so. |
