As I thought about what I would write here on our Wahm forum this week, I had an experience this morning that I thought was worthy sharing.
My husband and I get up fairly early in the morning. I like getting up early too to start my day off with my daily devotions. Things quickly took a turn around when my husband came back in and said that we would have to get the boys up and take him to work. His tire on his truck was completely flat and he couldn't get the spare tire unleashed. So, the rush was on to get him to work on time....and it's quite a trip.
On the way home, I decided to surprise my boys by stopping at a donut shop -- I knew that donut shops would be open this early in the morning with those "fresh" hot donuts :) Since Friday is "I love you day" at our house I thought this would be the perfect treat.
I stopped at a donut shop that I had never been too before. It was quite a small place and inside were a man and a woman laboring away. As I was paying the woman at the counter for our donuts, the man in back was quite friendly, and from circumstances seemed to be in charge. I told him that on several occasions I had passed this way in the morning and had seen someone outside holding a sign about "fresh donuts". I told him I just had not had time to stop in before -- and that this was our first time here. He immediately responded with enthusiam -- and asked, "This is your first time here?" ...and we all replied, "yes". He said, that deserves a FREE donut! He gave us all a fresh donut -- and I tell you that was the freshest, best-testing donut I've ever had.
It was quite a casual place, obviously owned and labored by just two or three people and nothing fancy there at all -- infact the work area was right behind the desk out in the open -- BUT, I'LL BE Back! You know why? Because the man in charge took time to talk to me and treat me and my boys as "special" people. He wasn't exactly the "sophisticated" kind of manager -- but he knows a thing or two about customer service.
Great customer service can yield repeat sales. What can you do in your home business to adapt that everlasting "first impression"? |

Wow, that was some customer service. I'm so glad your first experience was great. Now you will keep coming back over and over just to enjoy it.
For me, I frequently greet my clients by their name when they call me. I have Caller ID and use it to tell if a client is calling then I greet them by name. It makes quite an impression. I have a list of names and numbers so I can check it before picking up. Most of my frequent clients, I don't even have to check the list for. They love it that I know it's them and greet them like long lost friends. Take care and God bless. |
