Hi Everyone!

My name is Christina and I am the newest (I think) moderator for Wahm Announce. Yay!! :P I have volunteered to lead chats on the finance board and post articles to help with finances and budgeting. What have I gotten myself into?! Just kidding. This IS a huge topic so I know there will be plenty to post about.

Guess I'll start off with an easy question...

Do you currently use a budget...and stick to it?

We sort of create a "mental" budget of how much we should spend for groceries each week.

What we do financially is take our paycheck, pay the bills first, then see what's left to divide for groceries, gas and other upcoming events. Usually not much to budget...Ha! :?

I do think your budget should include some sort of investment plan for retirement. That is automatically taken out before we get to "touch" any of our money. For those who have a difficult time "saving", automatic deposit into your savings account can really help.

Yes, I've got a budget and I've had one for decades. I created one the first time I had $20 left over for two weeks after spending money I shouldn't have. Right now, it's in Excel and runs for an entire year.

I pay my bills twice a month, only take out money for me that I've allotted and rarely go over the grocery budget but when I do, I usually go way over. :):):)

I think I've got a firm grip on what is coming in and going out and I'm working to keep the coming in hirer than the going out. I'd be happy to send a blank budget out to anyone looking to set one up. Take care and God bless.

Good for you, Gazelle. I'm proud of you. I love to see people who can really "manage" their money.

That is great!

I love Excel. I don't know what I would do without it!!

If anyone is looking for a great budget they can use in Excel, it can be downloaded directly from Microsoft's web site. All of the formulas are in place. You just have to plug in your info. :D

Thanks Rhonda. I really try hard to keep my finances in order. It's important not only for me but to teach my children how to do it as well.

I love Excel too Christina. Not only in my budget in Excel but so is my checkbook, grocery list, accounts receivable and all my invoices. I'd be lost without it.

Take care ladies and God bless you both.

Being my only income , have to have a budget. I do sometimes go over a little, but for the most part I stick with it.
I have money put into my savings from my checking account each month. When I deposit my check it is now so automatic that I deduct the savings - I have touched the savings just once, for $50 since I opened it. Is not enough to live on by any means, but it is a start. I do add other monies to it when I have any extra and at tax time
Thanx for the Excel Link!

You're welcome, Tonja. I hope you find the budget program helpful.

It's great to see so many ladies putting money in savings right away. That's wonderful. Tonja, it'll add up over time. The important thing is that you have made it a regular practice to save. :P

Hey Ang,

If you have Excel, definitely download that budget then. I think you'll find it very helpful. :D
