Has everyone started their holiday shopping yet?

I am on a mission to be done or almost done before Thanksgiving!

I am about 50% done as of today.

Shelly,

I can't believe you! That's great. That has always been one of my goals each year -- to get everything done early. However, this year...I'm actually behind. I haven't even started yet. :? I think I'll put that on my priority list. I really hate rushing our Christmas shopping...and it seems that you spend more by making last minute purchases.

Does anyone here do homemade Christmas gifts?

Hi Rhonda,

This year my goal was to have a homemade Christmass and send everyone homemade gift for that personal touch but time has really gotton away from me. So it will be 50/50. God Willing.

Christmas?

Ummm, well....

nope havent started here yet.
Well actually come to think of it, I did purchase two little things, but typically I make the gifts.
I cant believe how quickly it is coming tho so this time I guess it will need to be a bit of both making and buying.

speaking of such I guess I should get to it.

Carla,

What type of homemade gifts do you make? I would love to hear...

Beezy,

Well, you sure helped me feel a little better. At least I'm not the only one lagging behind.

I haven't started my shopping either.
Am doing all home made though as far as I know.
I think I will do most of my shopping at home from my own store!
And anyone else who needs a jump start I'm having an online party in the chat room on Tuesday evening. Check it out on the home page here. More details to come!

Well, here is my shopping update!

I am now 85% done...so I won't be completely done by Turkey Day :(

So I moved my DONE Date to before Dec. 1, 2006

How is the shopping going for everyone else?

Mine is terrible! I haven't started at all. I don't even have a list.

One good thing is that my list gets smaller and smaller each year and I try and keep my spending down to a managable roar! Plus there are so many in the family and friends circle that have everything, so what is the point? Having dinner and a great time together is so much better along with maybe a small gift.

Still I am jealous! BRAT!

Shelly,

Good for you!! I'm wishing I were all most done. However, the only thing I have accomplished is the Christmas tree. Of course, this is sort of on purpose. With our big move we had lots of extra expenses, and so this is going to be a very simple Christmas. :) We're just all happy to finally be settled in.

Chris, I'm with you. It's better to have a memorable "time" together. I'm all for enjoying Christmas, but each year the pressure seems to be on to "spend" that money on gifts. In the last couple of years, we have simplified Christmas by buying only one or two special gifts for each member within our family, and then one gift to each of our parents. My husbands family is huge and we could never keep up with all the cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and so forth.

Hi Rhonda,

I make different kinds of gift. I usually make gift for the young ladies in my church and close friends.

last year for the young ladies they got snowman soup (hot chocolate)
in a white mug and with a poem attached with instruction on how to make the "soup" i also attached a verse. and enclosed a box of yummy cookies.

This year the young ladies will get an old fashioned hand pie ( it is like a turn over) with a verse attached not sure which one yet. and i am looking for small recipe books for "hostess in training" and i have flour sack towels that i will be embroidering names on.

I like the jar gifts for quick gifts but i try to do something for now and something for later gifts. and they are given in hand made bags .
For my friends i give more personal gifts but for the kids i like to keep them all the same just incase they are compared.

Joyfully,

I'm all done. I ordered my Christmas gifts, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Everything is here except my Barnes and Noble order scheduled to arrive this week. I've bought at least 90% of my Christmas presents online for the last 5 years. I love doing my shopping in my pjs and fuzzy slippers.

Gazelle,

I believe I'm headed that direction. I hate fighting the crowd at stores...so I'm all for shopping on the net.
