8 Key Benefits Of Joining A Direct Sales Company

When it comes to working from home, often times you will find people looking into a business with a Direct Sales Company. If you are like me, you have tried working out in the corporate and/or retail world...but found that it doesn't suit you or your family's needs.

Lets take a look at all of the benefits of joining a Direct Sales Company.

1. Be Your Own Boss - As a consultant, you are basically your own boss. You determine how much or how little you want to work. With that being said, you do represent a particular company and will still have to follow their rules and guidelines.

2. Save Money On Childcare - If you are a parent, a lot of times when you work outside your home, 50-75% of your paycheck is spent on daycare expenses.

3. Flexible Working Schedule - You can set up a flexible working schedule to suit your family's needs. When you need off work for vacation, sick or family time, it's much easier to do when you work from home.

4. Business Expenses - By joining a Direct Sales company, you will have manageable business expenses such as: adding new products to your demonstration kits and paper business supplies. If you worked outside your home, you would have transportation, clothing, food and other miscellaneous expenses. In my experience, working from home is a lot cheaper than working in the corporate or retail world.

5. Product Inventory - These days, the majority of companies do not require that you stock products in your own home. You can place your customer's order and have it shipped directly from the company, to your customer's front door.

6. Business Training - You will find that most companies offer free or very low cost training to their consultants. This training is a valuable business education that you can certainly afford.

7. Company Rewards - Every company has a different way of rewarding it's sales force members. You are usually rewarded with free products and/or money bonuses when you meet certain sales or team building goals. When doing my research, I saw such things as: trips to tropical destinations, diamond jewelry, electronics and yes...even cars!

8. Little to No Stress - In my personal experience, I find it a lot less stressful to work from home in Direct Sales compared to working out in the corporate world. I don't have to commute, deal with gossip in the workplace, nor have to meet crunch time deadlines.

If you are looking to work from home, I think you should consider joining a Direct Sales Company. For those of you who have families, this might be your smartest career move as the benefits can make life much easier for you and your family.

Shelly Hill has been successfully working from home in Direct Sales since 1989 and is a manager with Tupperware. Direct Sales - How To Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone

When it comes to Direct Sales, it is important to get out of your normal comfort zone. This means...getting out and making new contacts that are not your family and personal friends.

Many Direct Sales leaders will tell you to start with your warm market when it comes to finding home party and recruit leads. However, contacting your warm market will only get you so far...and usually, it's not far at all.

When I do new team member training, I like to teach my recruits to look 'outside' of their warm market for contact leads. Here are a few ideas that I like to share with them.

1. Join some local business groups in your community. I recommend small business owners, women business owners and local Direct Selling organizations. These groups are a great way to get out and meet new people, along with expanding your business networking contacts.

2. Join some charity groups and volunteer your time to worthy causes. In these groups you can make some new friends and contacts, while giving back to your local community. If your business company offers a fundraising program, you can offer the program to these particular groups for their fundraising needs.

3. Get involved with church, school and community sponsored programs. Hundreds of people belong to these type of programs in your community. Often times...you will see them sponsoring craft shows, trade shows and fundraising events.

4. You can offer to teach classes at local schools and businesses, which exposes you to new people in your local area.

Example: If you sell cooking and kitchen items, teach a few cooking classes. If you sell books, offer to read books and help children with reading, at your local library or preschool.

The most important thing you can do for your home business is to think 'outside' of your warm market. You need to immediately get yourself and your business out in front of your local community. In doing so, you will meet new people...which means new business contacts and sales for you.

I just love baking holiday cookies during this time of year. This is the recipe I like to use when I make my chocolate chip and M&M cookies. You will add both the chocolate chips and the M&M's to your cookie dough batter.

Easy Chocolate Chip and M&M Cookies

1 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream or buttermilk
1 1/4 cups milk chocolate chips
1 1/4 cups of M&M chocolate coated candies

Mix all ingredients together in the order that they are given in the recipe. Drop by the teaspoonful onto a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until done. Let cool.

Direct Sales - Is It Okay To Turn Down Home Party Requests?

I was recently asked by 2 different Direct Sales consultants this burning question… “Do I have the right to turn down a home party request?”

My answer is yes! When it comes to having your own home party plan business, you do indeed to have the right to turn down a home party request due to safety or health concerns.

Here are some common problems with some suggested solutions.

Example #1: Your party host lives in an unsafe area of town. If you feel your safety could be compromised, I recommend selecting an alternate location. If your party host refuses to relocate her party to a different location, I feel its your job to help her find another consultant who doesn't mind traveling to that area of town.

Example #2: If your party host has had parties before but his/her home is unsanitary, you can nicely suggest an alternative location. You can offer to let her use your home if need be, to host her party.

When dealing with this type of scenario, please watch your wording as you don’t want to offend your party host. If the host still insists on having the party at her home, you can be tactful and explain your reasons why you feel this would not be a good idea. If the conversation has gotten to that point, 9 chances out of 10, she will decide on another location or she will come to terms that her home needs to be cleaned up.

Example #3: If the party host has a reputation of booking numerous parties with various consultants and is constantly canceling them or there are some other type of serious issues that you are aware of, you can indeed refuse the request. However, it is also your job to find another consultant for her or to refer her to corporate headquarters so that they can help her find a consultant.

These 3 examples are just that…examples of some scenarios you might face while in Direct Sales.

The important thing to remember is that you do have the right to refuse any home party booking that you do not feel comfortable with. In doing so, you are more than likely losing a customer and/or party host.

I feel it is important that you be honest with your party host about any concerns you may have and if you need to refuse the booking, help them find a new consultant who will accept the booking.

Direct Sales - Are You Ready For The Holiday Advertising Season?

Are you ready for the holiday advertising season? If not, then it's time to start your holiday advertising campaign. Yes, I am aware that its still summer, but many online and offline publications are already gearing up for the holiday shopping season which means, you need to get on the ball and plan out your holiday marketing campaign now!

If you are looking to do in-print ads to attract the gift shoppers, now is the time to be securing those ads, as many print publications work months in advance. If you are looking to do online shopping advertisements, now is the time to secure your October, November and early December advertising spots. You will find that many online websites only have a limited amount of spots available, so now is the time to be securing them.

I recommend sitting down and coming up with a plan of action and writing it down. Divide your marketing plan into two lists, one for online and one for offline advertising. Your next step is to decide how much you can afford to spend. Yes, you can find free ways to advertise your business but if you truly want a successful marketing campaign, you will need to spend some money. Once you have your lists and budget in hand, it's time to put it into action.

There are only a few weeks left of summer and if you wait until the end of September or early October to get started, you could be left in the dust. Take the time out now to come up with a holiday advertising and marketing plan, and set it into action next week.

Direct Sales - A Viable Way To Earn Extra Money From Home

When it comes to joining a home based business, many people will turn to a Direct Sales Company. They often wonder to themselves if its a viable means to earn a living from home? The answer is a resounding yes...if they are willing to work hard at their business.

With the economy the way it is right now with numerous layoffs and cutbacks, people are looking for a way to earn extra money...often times, they are looking for a complete career change.

When it comes to having a Direct Sales business, you really need to educate yourself on what it will take to make your business successful. You need to do your homework on any company you might be considering on joining.

Often times when people join a company, they are mislead into thinking that it will be easy money. This is a common misconception. You will need to attend company training and promote your new business as customers will not magically find you. In addition, just like any job, you will have to set up a work schedule so that you have time to work and promote your home business.

If you are willing to work on your business consistently, attend training and do a few home parties, you can indeed make some extra money with a Direct Sales business. Will you get rich quick? No, you will not...but if you are willing to work hard at it and be patient with your business growth, Direct Sales is a viable money making opportunity.

Shelly Hill has been working from home in Direct Sales since 1989 and is a Manager with Tupperware. Direct Sales - The Do's and Don'ts of Networking on Twitter

When it comes to using the social media site Twitter, there are a few Do's and Don'ts you need to be aware of.

Let's start with the Do's

1. Fill out your twitter profile so that others can learn a little more about you and your Direct Sales business. If possible, upload a small picture of yourself or a small business graphic. However, you will find that most twitter users prefer to see a personal photo compared to a business photo.

2. You will need to be consistent with your tweeting. You can't just log in once a day, post 2 tweets and then jet out. You need to spend a little time tweeting about what is going on with your day or your business, so that you can build a relationship with your followers.

3. Try to connect with your followers by responding to their tweets or re-tweeting their messages. Twitter can be useful when it comes to business relationship building, if you take the time to converse with the people who are following you.

Here are a few Don'ts

1. Don't send automatic direct messages. There are numerous online services where you can sign up and have the service automatically send out a direct message, to every person who decides to follow you. Experienced tweeters find this to be impersonal and very annoying.

2. Never spam your business website links or business information via direct message unless a specific person has requested the information from you.

3. Don't sit on twitter 24 hours a day spamming business links. If you are only there for self business promotion and not there to build business relationships, you will be quickly labeled as a twitter spammer.

When it comes to networking on social media websites like twitter...it is important to make connections with those you are following. In a nutshell, business networking means building quality relationships with other like-mind individuals.

Shelly Hill has been working from home in Direct Sales since 1989 and is a Manager with Tupperware. Shelly has been networking her business online since 2003 and has learned along the way that it is important to build relationships with like-minded business professionals.
