Last year, we survived Hurricane Katrina. My children and I left Long Beach, MS on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at 5am with three changes of clothes, a pair of sandals and thoughs of what we would do when we got back home.
Imagine our horror to discover a few days later that we wouldn't be able to go back, that everything we owned in this world was gone and that we were now facing being homelessness. Sounds bleak but not impossible to overcome.
Now is where ten moments of positive thinking, lots of prayer and several miracles started.
First positive thought - Thank God we are still alive
First miracle - found a vacant apartment on August 31, 2005
Second positive thought - Where to from here Lord
Second miracle - applied for and got the apartment
Third positive thought - what do we need most?
Third miracle - moved in on September 1, 2005
Fourth positive thought - Thank you Lord for the apartment but what will be eat?
Fourth miracle - called Navy Federal Credit Union and got funds moved to new checking account in one day
Fifth positive thought - Thank you Lord for the apartment but what will we wear?
Fifth miracle - met a woman who didn't even know me but took up money for us, gave us clothes, school supplies and household goods
Sixth positive thought - Thank you Lord for the apartment but what will we sleep on?
Sixth miracle - same woman came up with a cot, sheets, food and helped get the kids enrolled in school
Seventh positive thought - Thank you Lord for the apartment, food, clothes, miracles and blessings.
Eighth positive thought - Thank you Lord for using a disaster to open my eyes, make me realize just how precious life is, how important famiy is and who my real friends are.
Ninth positive thought - I am where I am because you brought me through and I will never forget just how blessed I really am.
Tenth positive thought - All things are possible to those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose. Take care ladies and God bless you all. |
