***TIP #2 Organize how work flows on and off your desk.
Toss/ Shred, Active files, Things to file, and Send

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As work comes in get it off of your desk and into the its proper place
right away. This will help eliminate work piling up on your desk and
will allow you to keep focused as you work.

This very simple yet essential step will greatly assist you in accomplishing
your over all goal of getting and keeping organized.

To get started you will need four stacking trays. Stacking trays are
wonderful for directing the flow of traffic across your desk.

**Toss/ Shred
The only thing I will say about office trash is to take care of it right away.
Have your waste basket handy so that paper waste does not start to pile
up. Some items you may need to shred because it contains personal
information about you or your clients. Also make a habit of shredding
these items right away.

**Active
Stack two of your trays and place them in the left back corner of your
desk. These are for your active files. The top tray if for active files and
paper work that you are currently working on. The bottom tray if for
active files you have delegated out and/ or your assistant is actively
working on.

**File
Locate a tray next to your filing cabinet as active files are completed or
closed placed them into this tray if they need to be filed.

**Send
For your final tray, Place it on the opposite corner of your desk from your
active tray. Use this tray when you have finalized files/project and you
need to mail them out instead of filing them.

End your day emptying your “to file” tray and addressing envelopes,
packaging up items from your send tray that you need to get out and
making a To Do list for the next day..
