Okay,
So how many of you have burned a bag of microwave popcorn before? Does it not leave a lasting impression from the smokey air fumes? Even, so, I usually consume a little bit of it anyway. I'm one of those who hate to see food go to waste. My dad and I have a liking for some "burnt" items such as meatloaf, hotdogs, and a few other items.
Well, it seems like microwave popcorn may be banned from some city buildings in Seattle. I guess some smoke alarms are sending off false alerts and causing quite a stir. Apparently just hitting the "popcorn" button on the microwave isn't so reliable.
Here's a few links on the subject:

Others domestic items are on stake as well. Yesterday, I commented about the contaminated Colgate toothpaste on my Mommy Revenue blog. Our forefathers sure would go into great shock to see all the chaos and silly problems we have in today's society.
Here's the Colgate link, by the way:

Microwave popcorn seems to be such a huge thing for people who work in offices for a snack or for lunch. I know that when I worked outside the home, it seemed like everyone, myself included, constantly was eating popcorn. That is going to make for a lot of very unhappy people.
That bit with the toothpaste was very scary, Rhonda. I don't use those type of toothpastes at all and had heard that it was very bad to buy toothpaste from any of the dollar type stores as most of what they get isn't manufactured here and the other countries don't have the regulations that we have. Not that our regulations are that good to start with which is why I use all natural products as it is.

Jo,
I do believe it is cause for concern (the toothpaste, that is). We need to keep our food & products even in small retail stores under secure scrutiny...lest terrorists try to find a loophole is this area to harm others as well.
You're right about the popcorn. It's such a quick fix snack..and I like it myself. I would be quite disappointed, myself, if I were not to be allowed to fix some at work. |

Oh Rhonda, I do agree that we need to keep our toothpaste under scrutiny. Terrorists are going to try to get to us any way that they can.

Tara, I have a microwave but only because it came with the house when we bought it. The one that we were building originally wasn't going to have one in it. I don't use ours here. My son will but I don't.
Like you, we only use natural and organic products.

We're slowly leaning more and more toward organic. My husband is just now getting where he'll eats salads regularly. When we first married, he would hardly touch any vegetables that I would make. In fact, I had quite a time to convince him to eat any at all. Now, he realizes how important your health really is. So, we're making quite a progress.
How about vitamins? Do you all take vitamins? We have included some ones that we feel are important for us. |

I am actually more of a vegetable and salad person than hubby is but he does like them.
We do take vitamins every day. Since taking the Reliv, that is all that we take since it has all the vitamins in the shakes.
When you eat organic, you can usually get all the vitamins and nutrients from the foods that you eat.

Marlo, you make me feel a little better. I'm glad I'm not the only one here that's craving a little "unhealthy" stuff. The popcorn is probably good, but I'm not sure about the butter. |

actually Rhonda, the 'nuking of the popcorn is probably the worst part of it because of the makeup of the bag inwhich you're popping it and the microwave affects themself.
now if you're air popping or stove top popping (ya know the old fashion way in a pot w/a bit of oil) then that's the healthiest way to go

Well,
I love popcorn cooked on the stove in a kettle. That was one of my favorite snacks as a kid. Perhaps I'll try to find a pan that would be perfect for the job. |
